Heels guide
At Joheela, you can customize your pair of shoes with the heel height and shape of your choice!
Not sure which heel to choose? Wondering which shape and height is best suited to your practice? Slim stiletto, standard stiletto, flared or chunky? In this guide you'll find all the advice you need to choose the right heel.
The stiletto shape is the trendiest and most suitable for heels dance (heels, street jazz heels, hip-hop heels).
With its slim, long shape, the stiletto heel elongates your silhouette and enhances your legs. It's the heel shape most often used in heels dance. It can also be used for voguing or cabaret. Some also use them for Kizomba.
If you practice another type of dance in heels, don't hesitate to ask your teacher if he or she favors thin heels for your practice.

Which heel height to choose?
The choice of heel height is a very personal one. You need to feel comfortable in your shoes, both in terms of stability and self-confidence: so choose a height that makes you feel beautiful and confident!
However, if you're lost, here are some tips for choosing your heel height:
ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS
- If you're just starting out and you're afraid you won't feel comfortable because you wear few heels and don't dance, you can start with a heel height of between 7.5cm and 8.5cm.
- You can start with a 7.5cm heel, so that you can first learn to feel at ease with your body and your femininity.
- Note, however, that if you want to evolve and learn to manage your balance on heels, it's advisable to move quickly to a minimum 8.5cm heel.
- Ask your teacher for advice, as some don't accept heels under 8cm to ensure correct weight distribution when learning to dance in heels.
DANCERS WHO ARE ACCUSTOMED TO HEELS OR OTHER PRACTICES
- If you're a heel dance beginner but are used to wearing heels or have a flexible ankle and instep, challenge yourself! A height of between 9.5cm and 10cm is the ideal average heel height for heel classes.
REINFORCED DOWEL / INTER-ADVANCED
- If you're at an intermediate level, you can opt for a heel higher than 10cm if your feet are flexible enough.
- If you're already accustomed to wearing heels, and have worked on your ankle and instep by practicing other dances like classical, for example, you can choose a height higher than 10cm like our 11cm heel stiletto slim. The higher and thinner the heel, the more your silhouette is enhanced!
SMALL SIZES
- For smaller sizes (33 to 37), it may be complicated for some to wear heels higher than 9cm, because you have a small foot. Some can afford it, but it depends on the flexibility of each foot.
