Soles Guide

At Joheela we offer 2 different types of soles, so you can customise your pair with the most suitable sole for your practice. If you don't know which one to choose, here we explain the advantages of each of the outsoles.

Sole Suede

What is it recommended for?

Shoes with this type of outsoles are ideal for a use on parquet floor. The fibers of the suede material allow for an ideal aherence to the parquet floor  and offer an excellent grip/glide ratio: turns are performed with ease and without resistance, and you won't risk slipping. This sole can also be used on other floors such as lino or tiles, but its performance will not be as excellent as on parquet floor.

However, this sole should only be worn indoors to avoid damage, as gravel, concrete, asphalt and rain can damage the sole. If you plan to wear your pair outdoors, we advise you to opt for an All floors sole instead.

Is it flexible?

The suede sole is flexible and much softer than normal outsoles, which makes it much easier to point and finish your leg lines cleanly.

How to maintain it?

This sole requires regular brushing to remove dust and dirt, lift the fibers and maintain optimal grip. Brushing the sole regularly with a silicone or metal bristle brush for dance shoes prevents the sole from becoming smooth and slippery.

What color is the sole?

The colour of the suede soles always matches the colour of the pair. If the shoe is black, the suede soles will be black. For all other shoe colors, the suede sole will be light brown.

How durable is the Suede sole Suede

Generally speaking, if the sole is used exclusively on clean, suitable dance floors, it can last for several years, depending on how often you dance.

When properly maintained, it is generally more durable than an All floors sole. Suede a material that wears out: it can flatten or thin over time and must be maintained regularly with a sole brush.

Things to know

No matter what color you choose, this sole won't leave a mark on the floor!

This sole is not vegan, so if you want a pair of vegan shoes, opt for an All floors sole.

All floors sole

What is it recommended for?

As the name suggests, this sole can be used on all types of surfaces, even outdoors. This means that with this sole, you can wear your shoes for dancing, but also for everyday use or at events where you want to wear heels without discomfort. Please note, however, that we do not recommend prolonged use while dancing, outdoors, or on concrete or very abrasive surfaces with many rough spots, as this can accelerate sole wear.

Is it flexible?

Similar in appearance to the soles of pairs from fashion stores, this sole was nevertheless developed specifically for dance practice and is therefore more flexible than a basic heeled shoe sole. However, it is less flexible than a suede sole.

How to maintain it?

The All floors sole does not require any special maintenance. However, to maintain its grip on the floor as much as possible and prevent it from becoming slippery or sticky, remember to clean it from time to time with a little water and a washcloth to remove all the dirt accumulated in the dance studios.

What color is the sole?

The colour of the All floors soles is always beige. If the All floors soles were black, they could leave marks on the floor.

For black color pairs, the edges of the soles are painted in black for a more aesthetic look. This paint can be removed by rubbing, which can leave a few marks on the floor when first used. If the shoe is not black or you have chosen a flared heel/chunky, the edges of the All floors soles will not be painted in black.

How durable is the All floors sole All floors

In general, an All floors sole All floors good durability and can last anywhere from several months to several years, depending on frequency of use, floor type, and intensity of activity.

It is designed for use on various types of surfaces, but heavy use on highly abrasive surfaces (textured flooring, concrete, etc.) will naturally accelerate wear and tear.

The more durable a material is, the harder it tends to be. However, for dancing in heels, the sole must retain a certain degree of flexibility to allow the foot to point easily and maintain a good sense of movement. A harder sole, even if it is more durable, will therefore not offer the same functionality or comfort for dancing.

On abrasive surfaces, such as parquet floor , concrete, or rough surfaces, theAll floorssole may wear out more quickly. This is due to a natural process of material abrasion material repeated friction gradually wears down the sole. This is therefore not a quality defect, but a normal physical phenomenon related to the type of floor surface used.

Things to know

Discoloration or light wear of the sole after the first few uses is normal, especially when the sole rubs against the floor, as is often the case in physical activities such as dancing.
